The Burnside Bibs are not your traditional work overalls. Yes, they are comfortable and easy to wear, yet they are much more stylish and feminine than traditional versions. The straps that transition to narrower ties offer many options for how they can be tied.

The Burnside Bibs have two front bib options - a scooped neck or the traditional straight front. Both bibs work with either version #1 or version #2. Version #1 is a more fitted back pant with back waist darts and an invisible side zipper opening, however, the ties still form a small amount of gathers at the back waist. Version #2 is a looser back pant that slips on over your hips and does not have a closure to sew. This version is fuller and more gathered in the back. Use your hip measurement to determine your size for version #2.

Both versions also feature a front waistband, curved front patch pockets, optional back pockets, and cross-back straps that transition to narrower ties that thread through back waist belt loops forming back waist gathers. They may be tied in many ways - at the back, front or sides. The legs are somewhat wide and can be made full length or cropped. More...

  • Denim Blue Essex Cotton/Linen - There is little more classic than a blue chambray. It's part of the American psyche; I swear we have genes for jeans. So it was a no-brainer to use such a fabric in our boxes. This lighter wash chambray is a linen-cotton blend, giving it structure and lightness, breathability and softness. And the color is so serene. I can feel myself grow calmer just looking at this fabric, so I can only imagine what wearing a pair of bibs in it will do!
  • Moss Green Crinkle Cotton - I am absolutely obsessed with this crinkle cotton. We've used it several times before, and I think it's the perfect weight for a pair of loose fitting pants. Completely opaque yet thin and supple, it will match the soft lines of the pattern perfectly, and gather nicely at the waist without any extra bulk. Plus, the crinkle texture gives a lived in look, like you've loved these bibs for years, even when it is fresh off the sewing machine. And the color! The yellow-green hue is springtime incarnate and will add instant brightness to your day whenever you wear your Burnside Bibs.

the perfect box for serious sewist.

Needlesharp provides a beautifully curated box for sewing a garment. I love that the fabric is matched to the pattern. The tread and needle is matched to the fabric and all extra notions are included in the box. I have made many garments from these boxes and I am so proud of all of them. I have also discovered new fabrics and patterns that I might not have found on my own.

Zoe is my blouse!

Such an easy pattern and it looks so pretty on. Will be making another one very soon!! Loved the box and the beautiful rayon challis in burgundy. Such a treat and would have never bought this pattern. Thank you for such a great experience!❤️

Still learning after all these years
A few problems

I am struggling with the pattern. The instructions are confusing to say the least. Fabric is great.

Good box, but could be improved.

Not enough interfacing included, had to purchase more to finish dress. Also, the 'extra' was a card stock bookmark. Kind of silly and not needed. Hoping more for sewing notions. Great fabric and presentation though! Just needed enough interfacing and better 'extra' item.

My best make yet!

I recently finished my Wilder dress in Burnt Sienna Monstera Print Rayon Poplin from the Sew Essential box and I can’t rave enough about this kit! The fabric is beautiful and incredibly high quality, and since I wear a smaller size I have enough left over to make a True Bias Ogden cami, too! The included thread matches beautifully. And I enjoyed making the Wilder pattern so much that I’ve also used it to make three Wilder blouses. Just the pattern and project materials are a great value, but with my extra yardage and multiple pattern usages it’s a steal. I’ve bought a few Needle Sharp kits and am always blown away by the quality and style of the fabric and choice of patterns. Can’t wait for my next project!
