The Puff shirt has overlapping shoulders that create an elegant boatneck. The sleeves are wide at the bottom and gathered with elastic folded inwards which creates a puff sleeve. Even though the end result looks very refined and elegant, it's really easy and fun to make. More...

  • Evergreen Viscose Linen Silky Noil - I've used this fabric before for a dress, but I couldn't get it out of my head for this blouse. The little nubs of the noil will add texture and interest to the blouse and the viscose will add a nice amount of drape to the bodice. The linen will keep the structure of the sleeve so you can have just the right amount of volume for your look. Plus, that deep green color is divine - rich and verdant. If you want to let the color make the blouse, this is the fabric for you!
  • Cream and Blue Ikat Cotton - I have been itching to use an ikat for a while now. I love the uneven nature of the print and how it really shows off the weave of the fabric. If you're unfamiliar, ikat is a resist-dyeing technique where the threads used for weaving are dyed beforehand. The ikat threads are bound in a pattern so that the threads covered by the binding ‘resist’ the dye, creating a design. Here that design is a beautiful check pattern where squares of indigo blue float on a white background. The simple cotton is soft and supple and will show off the clean lines of the pattern beautifully. A dream of a fabric!

I Loved this Pattern!

This pattern and the fabric were fantastic! The pattern had such clear instructions as well as a detailed blog post to walk through all the steps. The fabric choice was nice to work with and is super comfy and seems like it will last.

Nice notions included as well! Loved it.

Pattern review

I really like the jacket and pattern. The only thing I would recommend is to have the front facing be one solid pattern piece instead of two separate pieces. This was a little confusing.

I thought this was a very flattering pattern and I am pleased with how it is turning out. The lightweight cotton voile print was a good selection on Mary's part and she included everything needed so no further shopping necessary which I love. I used the included tear away product to stabilize the waist and it was easy to use. I skipped the side zipper as I didn't need it and raised the neckline for a more modest fit. I have enjoyed all my Needle Sharp boxes, love how Mary puts everything you need in there plus labels and little extras. It has helped introduce me to Indy patterns and keeps my me made wardrobe currant.

the perfect box for serious sewist.

Needlesharp provides a beautifully curated box for sewing a garment. I love that the fabric is matched to the pattern. The tread and needle is matched to the fabric and all extra notions are included in the box. I have made many garments from these boxes and I am so proud of all of them. I have also discovered new fabrics and patterns that I might not have found on my own.
