Sew a Tank Top: Kila Tank

The Kila Tank sewing pattern is a fitted tank top designed for stretchy knit fabrics. A slight racerback design gives this top a sporty look. Kila’s deep scoop neckline and armholes are finished with a bulk-free binding method that mimics ready-to-wear techniques.

The Kila Tank has several inches of negative ease making it a great basic layering tank top. Kila can be tucked into high-waist pants, overalls, and skirts. Because it’s sewn in super stretchy fabrics, Kila is also a great workout or pajama top for hot weather.

  • Light Gray Modal Ribbed Knit We love a good rib knit, and this one, with a wide wale, is a gem. The vertical ribs give the fabric amazing stretch and recovery and will create a close fit for your top. The fabric is incredibly thin yet opaque and has a semi-fluid drape. In a neutral light gray, it will go with absolutely everything, and the modal content will ensure that you're wrapped in softness whatever you do!
  • Blueberry Bamboo Spandex Jersey This blue, falling somewhere between a navy and royal with a little purple thrown in for good measure, is just the right hue for a hit of color while still remaining neutral. And it's the perfect color for a top that can do double duty as a special occasion outfit and everyday wear. Plus, this soft bamboo jersey has a healthy dose of spandex for great stretch and recovery, a necessity for this form-fitting tank. A lovely fabric!
