The Magic Pants, to the unknown eye, appear to be tailored, high-waisted, woven pants - but hidden underneath is the stretch and comfort of your favorite pajamas. The sailor-style front flap hides a ribbed knit panel that allows you to pull the pants up over your hips, before securing the flap with the strap around the waist. Each side of the strap is connected to elastic hidden along the center back to provide some flex for maximum comfort around the midsection. The front flap also serves as the opening for the extremely generous front pockets.

The pants are wide-legged and go straight down from the hip. Between the two strap ends and the elastic, there is tons of adjustability for the waist to cater to the unique shape of the maker. The maker will choose their size based on their hip measurement, and adjust the waistband to fit during the test fitting. More...

Love the pattern

I love this pattern. It isn't a good one for beginners due to the lack of clear instructions. It also doesn't really tell you the width of bias binding to use -- odd! -- good thing bias tape comes in the kit. The garment itself is comfortable and flexible but the amount of fabric given seemed pretty skimpy this month.

struggling

I am not exactly a beginner but someone who needs more sewing experiences. This kit is frustrating me more than stretching me: e.g., I prefer tissue patterns for flexibility, manageability, elimination of steps (tracing); am finding red ink hard to read on the instruction; the English translation and abbreviations takes some figuring out (it can be done but why so challenging?); metric measurements also need translating (from instruction to pattern to sewing machine); the fabric is super slinky for someone still feeling her way. I could use a secondary Needle-sharp written tutorial to avoid confusion and frustration. I am only just beginning the sewing part so results remain to be seen . . .if it doesn't turn out useable I will really be ticked.

Lovely pattern and fabric combination

Great pattern and fabric. I love that you do all the main decisions for me! I little disappointed in the amount of elastic thread supplied-definitely needed more than one spool. Also, the fabric is very shear; it really needed a lining on the bodice. So, I did have to go to my local fabric store to get more supplies to finish.

Gotta love quilting!

I liked the fabric and final results but didn’t realize it would take so long to cut out and quilt all the pieces for this vest, and I’m an experienced quilter!

Top quality box!

Very impressed with the quality of the materials provided in this box. The Megan Nielsen pattern is really fantastic and includes many links to information and tutorials. I'm not going to lie, this will be an ambitious make for me. Thanks to Needle Sharp for making this irresistibly great box to inspire me.
