It's wiggle dresses!!
Cue Celebration...
Wait, what's a wiggle dress, you ask? According to wikitionary (always a reputable dictionary) it is "a dress whose hem is narrower than the hips, causing the wearer to walk in short strides with legs close together, producing a sway or wiggle of the hips." Now, this type of dress is called by a couple of other things: pencil dress, sheath dress, or simply body-con dress.
When I think of this type of dress, I think Mad Men, Marilyn Monroe, and Dita Von Teese. These types of dresses are vintage, sexy, and by god, they are made to make you love your body in them. Don't believe me? Just watch Christina Hendricks on Mad Men and try not to think, "Wow, I wish I could be that badass." These dresses are designed to make you look good. When you're wearing them, you stand a little straighter, you walk a little jauntier, you feel good about yourself.
Or at least that is the aim with these choices.
