We Return to your Mailbox This March With Ankle Length Pants

 We're
We're back! The past three months have absolutely flown by in a haze of baby cuddles, sleep deprivation, and holiday celebrations. It seems a bit insane that it's already time to return to the working world to announce our March Boxes.
Since this is our first box back, we decided to go with a classic look and fabrics. That meant trousers, with a little twist. We chose ankle length trousers in three different silhouettes to help you transition from winter to spring. For fabrics, we kept it dark with delicious reds, browns, and blues.

So, without further ado, let's dig in!

Sew Essential Box: Alba Pants from Tessuti Fabrics

Released in December, the Alba Pants are already on so many wishlists. And it's hard not to see why. The unique faced front, elastic back, and loose, straight-leg cut make them a  versatile and stylish pant. They fall just above the ankle and will let you show off those cute spring shoes you've been dying to wear all winter. We love them!

  • Mushroom Cotton Twill - This medium weight cotton twill gives you the best of a bottom and top weight with structure and suppleness. At 6 oz, it's ideal for these looser fit trousers. In a peaty, medium brown, it's a great neutral on which to build an outfit, so you can layer all winter long, then wear it on its own when the weather warms again in the spring. Sounds perfect to us!
  • Royal Blue 21 Wale Corduroy - The bright color of this blue just makes us happy. Add to that the almost velvet-like texture of the corduroy, and we're near ecstatic. Medium weight, this fabric will be comfortable to wear and easy to sew (for a cord). And don't worry about your pants ending up stiff. This cord is soft and pliable. These pants will be a joy to wear!
  • Shiraz Heavyweight Cotton Broadcloth - Deep and dark, like the delicious glass of wine, the color is just one thing to love about this fabric. With a silky, dry hand and a heavier weight, this fabric is supple and wearable, like your favorite pair of khakis that you wore until holes appeared. Lightly brushed for softness, this is about as classic as you can get for a twill. And absolute wardrobe necessity!

Sew Select Box: Bob Woven Pants from Style Arc

Several years ago, the Bob Pants had a moment. It seemed like everyone on Instagram was making them. And raving about them. It turned balloon pant skeptics into believers, and this was before the trend appeared in retail stores. We may be a little late to the party, but better late than never. If you're looking to test the barrel-leg trend, these are the tried and true style to go with.

  • Navy Cotton Linen Blend - Thin and medium weight, this linen blend has a soft, slub hand that we love. With a supple drape, it will give your pants an almost suiting look, while still retaining all the breathability and durability that makes us love linen. A sophisticated yet relaxed choice for your wardrobe!
  • Mulberry Crinkle Cotton - We're absolutely obsessed with this crinkle cotton. The crinkle texture gives a lived-in look, like you've loved your trousers for years, even when it is fresh off the sewing machine. And the color! The deep berry hue is complex and saturated and will be a great addition to your handmade wardrobe!
  • Bark Green Cotton Linen Twill - The fabric is lush! The mossy green is verdant and soft, while the linen cotton blend, with a slight sheen and dry hand, keeps the fabric simple and elegant. A medium weight gives it enough heft pants but enough drape for the barrel shape of these pants.  Easy to care for and easy to sew, this fabric is sure to become your new favorite!

Sew Indulgent Box: Peg Trousers from Merchant & Mills

Peg trousers are defined by a loose fitting hip tapering down to the ankle. While this style may suggest terrible 80s pleated pants, Merchant & Mills avoids the pitfalls by sticking to a classic workman's fit. A twist on your typical khakis, these trousers will fit oh so nicely into a casual wardrobe.

  • Burgundy 21 Wale Cotton Corduroy - The wale of this wine-hued corduroy is so fine, it looks and feels almost like a velvet. It's plush and soft, with a drape that is supple, never stiff. In a classic deep red, this fabric will look like high end suiting and feel like cotton pajamas. Sounds amazing to us!
  • Indigo Heavyweight Linen - We can't deny a good linen! The deep, dark hue, a complex navy, shows off the twill weave of this heavyweight linen. Soft and delicately textured, this fabric has a fuller drape that's perfect for this looser fitting pants style. And because it's on the heavier side, this linen is a wonderful transitional piece, going from winter to summer in a snap!
  • Espresso Heavyweight Cotton - We can't get over the color of this cotton! Deep, dark brown, like your morning coffee or favorite chocolate cake, the color is perfect for year long wear. Plus, in a durable, classic broadcloth, you'll be able to wear these for years to come. At 7 oz, the fabric is heavyish but still moveable, allowing you to feel comfortable in your new "pegs." A fabulous choice!
