Sienna is a chic utility jacket inspired by vintage French workwear. Designed for hard-wearing use by makers and artists, it functions as both stylish outerwear and a highly practical layer for use inside the studio. With a slightly dropped shoulder, Sienna features a crisp notched collar which can be worn buttoned at the neck with an optional snap button. It is unlined and finished with durable seams. Views A & B feature deep hip pockets, a hidden breast pocket and a waist-cinching belt with a D ring closure that can be worn closed, or open by looping the belt in the opposite direction; View A hits at mid-thigh and View B ends at the upper thigh. • Caramel Heavyweight Linen Twill - We couldn't go this month without a nod to the famous Carhart work coat. The part of nearly every workwear wardrobe, the caramel yellow jacket is practically part of American history. Rather than recreate it in whole cloth, though, I decided to mix it up with a heavyweight linen instead of canvas. The linen is sturdy yet soft and will only improve with age as you wear this coat for years and years!
  • Black Diamond Cotton Jacquard - Mimicking the now famous look of Merchant and Mills jacquards, this cotton is a looker. In a classic black, this layered cotton has a jacquard weave that gives it a quilted look and feel. The reverse is a gauzy cotton, there is no batting in the middle of this cloth, the inside is made up of a series of thicker yarns which gives it the quilted feel. Warm but airy, this fabric is absolutely made for this pattern!

Poorly printed instructions

Normally I'm a big fan of the needle sharp sewing packages, but my most recent order didn't come with the typical paper pattern and instructions. It was the PDF version that you can buy that is generally for individual use - and was printed with low ink to boot. Not a great feeling to be spending this much money and to not even get the typical physical pattern instructions.
